The bi-annual ICAM conference series puts a spotlight on the most recent developments in mountain meteorology and climatology, covering observations, modelling, and the analysis of meteorological phenomena in mountain settings. This year also the SGM took part by sponsoring the weekly conference fee of three young researchers from Switzerland: Heather Corden, Livio Bächtold und Stella Berzina. Congratulations to the three of you!

Heather Corden summarizes her ICAM experience: “I am very grateful for the SGM funding which allowed me to attend the ICAM conference. Presenting my master thesis as an oral presentation was very rewarding and led to interesting discussions about the challenges of measuring the planetary boundary layer height. This was my first experience of presenting my research at an international conference. I also benefited from discussions with people at different stages in their careers, both within academia and at national weather services such as MeteoSwiss.”

Please find more information on the ICAM conference on https://www.icam2023.ch.
