Visit of the High Altitude Research Station Jungfraujoch

The SGM is pleased to invite its members to the Bernese Alps for a visit to the High Altitude Research Station on the Jungfraujoch (3454 m asl) on Friday, 23 August 2024.

The visit on the Jungfraujoch will feature guided tours of the research station and the Sphinx Observatory, led by Dr. Martin Steinbacher (Empa) and the station’s custodians. Additionally, there will be ample time to explore and enjoy the various touristic attractions in the area.

Program:

9:35 Meeting point at Grindelwald Terminal (train from Zürich HB at 7:02, from Bern at 8:04)

10:41 Arrival at Jungfraujoch

10:45-13:00 Free time for sightseeing / small hikes / lunch

13:00-14:00 First guided tour (group 1: research station; group 2: Sphinx observatory)

14:30-15:30 Second guided tour (inverted groups)

16:17 Return (arrival in Bern 18:52, Zürich HB 19:58)

Costs: 30 SFr. per person (covers the journey from Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch and back, includes sponsoring by SGM)

Registration is closed.

Insurance is the responsibility of the participants. Given the altitude, winter clothing is required, as well as sunglasses and sunscreen.
