Symposium & General Assembly SGM 2023
The Symposium and General Assembly of the Swiss Society for Meteorology (SSM) was a successful blend of science and networking and was held in Zurich on 3 November 2023.
The event kicked off with a delicious sandwich lunch followed by the General Assembly of the SSM. Afterwards, Daniela Domeisen from the University of Lausanne, Nicolai Krieger from ETH Zurich, and Andreas Zischg from the University of Bern shared their work on the subjects of heatwaves, windstorms, and flood simulations.
Adding an interactive touch, Master and PhD students from various Swiss universities presented and discussed their work in an informal setting. This unique platform provided an valuable opportunity for both students and experienced professionals to exchange insights and knowledge.

The winner of this year’s SwissMeteoPhoto contest is Tina Schnadt with a photo of a supercell, taken this summer in Losinj, Croatia. The second and third place went to Philippe Gyarmati and Livio Bächtold. Congratulations!
