Symposium & General Assembly SGM 2024
Last Friday, on 29 Novermber 2024, the Swiss Society for Meteorology (SSM) held its annual Symposium and General Assembly in the Kuppelsaal at the University of Bern. The event brought together researchers, students, professionals, and weather enthusiasts to attend scientific talks, discuss ongoing master theses, and network with one another.

The event kicked off with a delicious sandwich lunch followed by the General Assembly of the SSM. Afterwards, Erich Fischer from ETH Zurich, Andreas Schlueter from Jua, and Monika Feldmann from the University of Bern shared their work on the subjects of rare extremes in a warming climate, AI-based weather forecasting, and aspects of thunderstorm predictability.
Adding an interactive touch, Master and PhD students from various Swiss universities presented and discussed their work in an informal setting. This unique platform provided a valuable opportunity for both students and experienced professionals to exchange insights and knowledge.
